About Neurological Disorders

The most common neurological complaints include headaches, dizziness, numbness/tingling, speech disturbances, visual changes, cognitive disorders, movement disorders, and problems with equilibrium. A proper and thorough evaluation is warranted to isolate the cause of the problem and to identify appropriate solutions.

Years ago, most neurological conditions had no effective therapies. But after the 1990s, known as the "decade of the brain," there has been an explosion in therapeutic neurology.

Virginia Neurology and Sleep Centers focuses on therapeutic neurology. Our mission is to help patients improve overall well-being through minimizing disability from nervous system disorders. In addition to sleep disorders, which originate in the nervous system, other commonly diagnosed and treated neurological conditions in our practice include:

  • Headache disorders (migraine, cluster, tension, etc.)
  • Epilepsy (seizures)
  • Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
  • Movement disorders (tremors, Parkinson disease, multiple system atrophy, etc.)
  • Inflammatory conditions (multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, etc.)
  • Cognitive disorders (Alzheimer disease, Pick's disease, etc.)
  • Neuropathies (diabetic, hereditary, nutritional, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.)
